2. Anonymous Navigation

We collect traffic information automatically to improve our services. This information includes navigation statistics that are completely anonymous and cannot be associated with a specific user.

3. Cookies Navigation

We may use cookies and log files to collect information about user navigation. These cookies are exclusively associated with a single user and their device. The collected information is used solely to improve our services and not to personally identify users.

4. Personal Data Processing

In accordance with applicable data protection laws, the personal data that users provide to us through the Applications will be treated confidentially and used solely to provide the requested services and send relevant notifications. Data Collected: - Geolocation: We use real-time and background geolocation data to provide precise information about nearby storms with hail risk, weather alerts, and nearby perceived earthquakes. This data is collected only with user consent and can be disabled at any time through device settings. - Device UUID: We store the device UUID to send notifications about weather alerts, nearby storms with hail risk, nearby perceived earthquakes, and Application updates.

5. Data Access, Modification, Deactivation, and Deletion

Users can request modification, deactivation, or deletion of their personal data at any time by sending a request to info@contingencias.app. We will retain personal data in backups for up to 90 days after the deletion request.

6. Security

We have implemented appropriate security measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, users should be aware that Internet security measures are not infallible.

7. Privacy Policy Changes

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time. Any changes will be notified to users through the Applications at least ten days before they come into effect. Continued use of the Applications after such changes implies acceptance of them.

8. Links

The Applications may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy policies of those sites. This privacy policy applies solely to the information collected by our Applications.

10. Use of Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics

We use Firebase Analytics to analyze the use of the Applications and Firebase Crashlytics to detect and diagnose technical errors. Firebase collects information about how users use the Applications and diagnostic information in case of errors. This information is used exclusively to improve the functionality, stability, and service of the Applications. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking services.

11. Location Data

We collect and process your device's location data to deliver core features of the app. Below we comprehensively disclose the types of location data we access, the purposes for which it is used, sharing with third parties, storage and retention, and how to revoke or delete it.

(a) Types of location data accessed

• Approximate location (network-based; ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION on Android, "while-using" on iOS).
• Precise location (GPS-based; ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION on Android, "while-using" on iOS).
• Background location (ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION on Android, "Always Allow" on iOS) — available only to Premium subscribers who explicitly grant the always-allow permission. Background access is required to deliver hail and severe-weather alerts when the app is closed.

(b) Purposes for which location is used

• Show local weather forecasts, radar, and satellite imagery centered on your current area.
• Detect proximity to nearby storms, hail clouds, lightning strikes, and heavy precipitation.
• Send push notifications when severe weather (hail, storms, heavy rain, snow, wind) is approaching your location.
• Send push notifications when an earthquake is detected near you.
• Tag user-submitted reports (storm reports, hail size, weather observations) with your location at the time of the report.
• Compute hyperlocal data such as nearest weather stations, agricultural metrics (evapotranspiration, chill hours), and air quality index.

(c) Sharing with third parties

• We do NOT sell your location data, and we do NOT share precise location with advertisers, ad networks, data brokers, or any third party for advertising or profiling purposes.
• Location coordinates are sent to our own backend servers (api.contingencias.app) over HTTPS to compute the responses described above.
• Approximate (city- or region-level) location may be reported to Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics for aggregated, non-identifying usage statistics, in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

(d) Storage and retention

• Your most recent location coordinate is stored on our backend servers, associated with an opaque device identifier, in order to deliver location-based notifications. It is updated each time your device reports a new location.
• This data is retained for as long as your device record exists on our servers. We do not run automatic time-based deletion.
• Local storage on the device may also cache the location for offline use.

(e) How to revoke or delete

• You can revoke foreground or background location permission at any time from your operating system's settings:
  • Android: Settings → Apps → Contingencias → Permissions → Location.
  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Contingencias.
• To request permanent deletion of all location data and your device record, write to support@contingencias.app, or use the in-app "Delete account" option in Settings. Once your device record is deleted, all associated location data is removed from our servers.

12. Third-Party Services

The Applications may use third-party services for specific functionalities such as maps, analytics, and payment processing. These services may collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

13. Children's Privacy

Contingencias is not directed at children under 13 years of age and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that their child has provided us with personal data without their consent, they can contact us at info@contingencias.app and we will delete such information. In compliance with applicable child protection laws, including Brazilian legislation (Digital Child and Adolescent Statute - Digital ECA), we do not offer features specifically directed at minors nor collect age data from users.
