Changing alert thresholds

May 21, 2026 13:55

Each preset has a default threshold designed for most use cases, but you should adjust it to your reality. For example: the frost threshold for a red grape variety is different from that for blossoming stone fruit.

Where do I change it?

Go to Advanced → My Vigía Alerts, tap the preset you want to adjust. In the detail screen, each target has a "pill" showing the current threshold (e.g. 10.0 km for Hail nearby, 0°C for Frost).

Tap the pill and an inline editor opens with two controls: a direct numeric field (where you can type) and / + buttons to adjust step by step. Change the value and it saves automatically when you lose focus or press Enter.

Defaults adapt to crop type

If the target is a Field with a defined crop type, the default threshold may differ from the city's. For example:

  • Frost in city: 0°C — Frost in vineyard / orchard: 2°C (more conservative; vines and stone fruit suffer before zero)
  • Hail nearby in city: 10 km — In orchards or vineyards: 15 km (you want more advance notice)

These defaults are applied when you activate the preset. You can change them any time afterward.

Validation

Some presets validate that the threshold is within a reasonable range. For example, "Hail nearby" doesn't accept a distance greater than 50 km (beyond that it loses meaning as an alert). If you try to save an out-of-range value, you'll see a message and the change won't be applied.

Bulk changes

For now, editing is one target at a time. If you want to set the frost threshold to 2°C across 5 targets, you need to tap 5 pills. We're evaluating "Apply to all targets" if it's requested often — reach out at support if that would help you.
