The big upgrade of having Fields is that Vigía fires on each one separately. Before CON-149, all alerts evaluated against your city. From CON-150 + CON-156 onwards, each alert has a target: it can be your city or a specific Field.
How to activate a preset on Fields
When you open a preset's detail (for example, "Frost"), each of your targets appears as a separate row:
- Your main city (badge "City")
- Each of your Fields (badge "Primary" if applicable)
Each row has its own toggle (ON/OFF) and its own editable threshold. This means you can have:
- Frost active on the vineyard (threshold 2°C, more conservative)
- Frost inactive for the city (you don't care)
- Frost active on the stone fruit orchard with threshold 1°C
When the condition is met on one of the targets, you get a push specific to that target. The message says something like "Frost expected at Napa Estate: minimum 1.8°C at 5:00 AM".
Smart defaults by crop type
When you activate a preset on a Field, the default threshold adjusts to the Field's crop type:

What about official presets (NWS, earthquakes)?
Presets sourced from official agencies (NWS, SMN, fire departments) are filtered by radius from the target. For example, if you activate "Official weather warning" on a Field in the Mendoza region, you'll only get a push if the SMN warning covers that zone. If it only covers Mendoza city but not your Field's location, you won't get a push for the Field (but you would for the "city" target if that's active).
Earthquakes work the same way: the "Nearby earthquake" preset searches for earthquakes within the configurable radius from the target's coordinates, not from your city.
How were old alerts migrated?
If you had toggles active in Settings (the legacy notifications screen), we automatically migrated them to your main city + each Field when you logged in. See "Your Settings toggles are already migrated" for details.
How many alerts in total?
14 presets × 6 potential targets (city + 5 fields) = up to 84 active preset alerts per user. Plus up to 5 custom alerts on top. The count is shown at the top of the Vigía index as "X / Y ACTIVE".
